Oyster Cove House

Dwelling within a leafy canopy

Located 20 minutes south of Hobart in a bush setting the Oyster Cove house creates a series of living platforms for a steel fabricator and his family.

The brief was for a modest home with steel as a natural material selection

Using the spans that steel can afford the floor was elevated above the difficult terrain and created a lightness in both the interior and exterior appearance.

Large expanses of glass capture the surrounding trees from forest floor to skying canopy.

The winged roof forms allowed a mezzanine level and an economy in water catchment and leaf maintenance.
