South Hobart House

As the site falls away, the extension sails over the client's mature garden below, clad in a combination of bushfire resistant metal and painted fibre cement sheet to achieve a BAL 12.5 compliant design.

The existing dwelling at Woodlyn Court is located on a steeply sloping site, within a bushfire zone. The clients required a two story extension to the rear of the property, which pushed out approx 5m from the existing dwelling. The proposal also included internal alterations to the existing layout, to achieve a 4-5 bedroom house.

The basement level extension was partially buried, requiring significant detailing and waterproofing at the junctions with the existing ground level.

The roof of the extension did not exceed that of the existing ridge, and the overall form followed through from the front to the rear of the proposty, with the exception of 2 new decks and a pop out stairwell clad in dark stone tiles.
