Established in early 2007, IDW Architecture + Interiors are a creative practice that integrates the disciplines of architecture, interior architecture and design.

Combining over 30 years of practice experience and a passion for art, architecture and design, Andrew Williamson and his team have formed a dynamic, creative and professional studio. Our practice undertakes a wide range of projects including corporate, retail, hospitality, educational, tourism, industrial and residential.

IDW Architecture + Interiors is a creative studio with the capacity, and experience, to design and manage your project from overall conceptual design through to the resolution of the smallest detail.

Our approach

IDW is a dedicated integrated design practice. Our objective is to identify, explore and maximise design opportunities by employing the combined skills and diverse experience of the IDW team. By considering a project holistically from commencement, we believe we can deliver unique and exciting design solutions that break the traditional boundaries of inside and outside.

An open studio environment and our unique practice methodology, encourages and promotes team communications and project efficiency.

Our clients are our primary inspiration. Using the project brief as a generator, our design solutions go beyond the pragmatic to engage the less tangible qualities of space, light, comfort and beauty essential to contemporary living and working environments. The design approach of the practice is distinguished by a desire to create crisp, clean and exciting contemporary forms inspired by the unique qualities of our Tasmanian environment – landscape, climate, light, colour and texture – and way of life.

IDW is committed to environmental and cultural sustainability. Our integrated approach ensures that important issues such as building siting, energy use, method of ventilation, waste-water treatment, lighting and appropriate materials are considered by the entire team from the inception of the project resulting in optimal solutions without the need to compromise other design objectives.

We encourage our team to research and investigate new technologies and materials whilst always acknowledging the wisdom in ‘tried and true’ methods and techniques. Underpinning all our work is essentially a desire to create design solutions that delight and enchant.
