St John’s School Additions

A series of small interventions at St John’s Catholic School, that make a big impact.

A number of site specific facilities were designed and constructed to brighten the campus at St John's Catholic School.

IDW worked in conjunction with landscape architecture studio "Playstreet", to reimagine the use of some of the residual external spaces adjacent to classrooms, and dotted around the campus. These spaces now offer shaded and safe areas for outdoor play, storage and even rest, to students and staff.

The covered, spotted gum deck offered space for outdoor learning, while providing protection from the elements

The small timber workshop occupies a prominent location on the site, and is clearly visible from Wellington Street, Richmond. This intervention was designed and built to support the school's groundskeeper, as well as to store any machinery or materials used to maintain the school's campus.
