Early learning centre and classrooms

IDW were approached by the Catholic Education Office of Tasmania to assist the St John's School in Richmond with some new works as part of the Federal Government's Building the Education Revolution program.

Funding was received for of an early learning centre and new classrooms. IDW identified an opportunity to site the new buildings amongst existing classrooms utilising poorly used court spaces.

Integrating the buildings in this way resulted in previously separate and disconnected classrooms being linked by multi-use spaces creating flexible teaching environments. Class groups can work together in large open light-filled spaces or separate classrooms by opening or closing sliding wall panels.

A new roof canopy aligns the vista to St John's Church adjacent and provides a sense of arrival for students and visitors to the school.
